Hot Air Balloon Fest Photoblog

Sunday, February 15, 2009

Quote of the event:
Hope springs eternal
-Missy. :)

With so much effort on finding a way to go to the Hot Air Ballon Fest, we were finally able to go. :) We just confirmed it the night before, at around 10 PM.

Coming from a play the previous night (we got home at around 12), we met up at around 1:30 AM and left for Pampanga at around 2. With only an hour of sleep, I was constantly yawning during the whole drive to Clark (I chose not to sleep to keep Jeprocks company, he was driving). We arrived at around 4++, the sun hasn't even risen yet. It was windy and cold (a great contrast to the latter part of the day).

At around 5:30AM, they started to haul in the balloons to set them up. To keep the people entertained, paragliders were moving about and some men were demonstrating the flying-using-hot-air principle by making use of a lantern.

The program started off with the Philippine National Anthem, with the Philippine flag carried by a sky diver. This was an amazing start to the great day ahead. :)

By the time the sky was lightening up, they were already filling the balloons with air.

And finally, the balloons were off! :D

Here are some of my favorite balloon pictures:

Kellogg's

It was Valentine's day after all. :)

Because this one is so colorful. :)

See the guy waving? This was the only balloon that the people cheered on.

This one's chinese. :D

Finally, the sky was clearing up (It was really cloudy, not so nice background for the balloons, it was kind of dull and monotonous).

and yes, I love to play with fire. (lol)

The balloons didn't go up all at once so in the lull in between the flights, paragliders were flying all around the place.

After most of the balloons have fled (a few were still there due to some difficulties), we went around the place to look at some of the exhibits.

Military trucks were on display. :)

So this is how it looks like on the inside. :D

Spidey in one of the trucks

Interestingly, there was a Yellow Cab there. ;P

There were a lot of people there too. :D

Some planes or jets or whatever they are called had an exhibition too.

Where else can you find flying dolphins?

When the people got bored, they just bought kites and flew them. (By the late afternoon, the sky was full of all shapes and sizes).

We didn't succumb to the pressure of the society (meaning, we didn't buy kites) being the budgetarians that we were (meaning = we didn't have cash).

At around ten, we chose to eat, realizing that we haven't had breakfast yet (just a sandwich courtesy of Jep's mum), and considering we were all up since 1AM. We scouted around the food court and picked Binalot among all the food stalls there.

It was really disorienting for us, waking up at 1AM with only one hour of sleep. We all felt like it was already past lunch when it was only 10AM. As iRonnie put it, it was like there was time-space warp thingy we were all caught in. The exhaustion, coupled with the heat and dust, made us all feel, well, exhausted to say the least. My eyes were drooping ever so often and the grime was just piling. Finally, when we couldn't take the heat anymore, we decided to go to SM Clark to freshen up (the field only had portalets and well, it was not even considered as an option, haha). We rode the jeepney like locals and made our way there.

When we arrived, we walked around, bought some cleaning stuff (facial wash, tissue, towel and a shirt for me - i forgot to bring an extra piece) and trotted to the Chanda Romeros as Missy put it. When we were done, we made our way to Puregold Clark. After that, we finally made our way home. But we stopped by razon's first to eat palabok and halo-halo (remember, no breakfast! heehee).

BTW, we met a fellow blogger (and plurker) there. Zerovoltage, whom neither one of us has ever seen before. But he has been friends with the others for quite some time. :D

That's it for now, till our next adventure!

On Little Blessings

When I woke up this morning and heard the rain tapping on our roof, I groaned. Don't get me wrong, I like the rain because it cools down our otherwise scorching hot city, but I don't like it on the days I have to commute.

Anyway, I got up, ate breakfast, surfed some and prepared myself for the day ahead. When I was about to leave the house, the rain had already stopped. Hallelujah. On my way to the place where Jeepneys passed (they don't have stands/stops here, they just stop in the middle of everywhere) I prayed the rosary. The walk from my house to that place took around 15 minutes and I was amazed that I was able to finish the whole five decades.

Eventually, I spotted the right jeepney and quickly flagged it. I rode the jeepney paid the fare and sat quietly on my spot. (I didn't want to attract much attention to myself lest I be a target for hold-up or something, I'm paranoid like that. Hahaha) Anyway, a few minutes into the ride, it started to drizzle again. I groaned (again). I didn't want to use my umbrella, even if I brought it, because keeping it after usage would be messy (read: wet folded umbrella inside my cloth bag). Finally, the jeepney reached my destination, I shouted a quick para to the driver and got off the vehicle. Lo and behold, the rain had stopped, again.

I just wanted to share this because we sometimes tend to ignore God's little blessings for us. I didn't even remember to blog about this until a few moments ago. I think I need to focus more on the little things, small reminders from God that He remembers me. We often focus on the big things that we want to get. We forget to see the little things God grants us to make our life a little less difficult. Heck, I didn't even pray for the rain to stop, I just thought life would be less messy if it did. (Don't get me wrong again, praying is IMPORTANT.) Still, God answered my unsaid prayer. And just like a doting Dad (who knows what His daughter really wants) towards His beloved daughter, He lets me have my way too. Sometimes. :)

....is difficult.

Buti sana kung simpleng HTML lang eh. Jusko, CSS kasi. Whatever Cascading Style Sheets.

Buuuuuut, I have successfully added links on my right siderail (in my Multiply)! YES! Well, I didn't actually twiddle with the CSS, I found a nice tutorial on how to add the icons/pictures on the right side rail using HTML, it's just a little tedious. As for making these icons links, well, I used my own coconut for that. Hehe. Icons and Links now, whole theme revamp later! (MUCH MUCH LATER!)

So, new year, new theme, new siderail links! Bwahahaha.

What's next? Oh yeah, studying. Tsss.

PS
It's difficult adjusting my writing style now that I am cross posting. sheesh.

New Year, New Theme

Just goes to show how much I dislike studying. I've played with my blogs for the whole vacation. :))

For the new Multiply theme, click here.

PS,
I got the theme from the Multiply Customized Themes Group.

On parking.

Last Monday, some friends and I went to MOA to buy a basket of goodies. Well, the original plan was to go to S&R only, but we ended up going to Greenbelt (to have lunch), to S&R (to see if they have the basket, but they didn't so we just ate ice cream, tsk, choir pa man din kami) and finally to MOA to buy a goody basket in the Hypermarket.

Well, as the title suggests, this post has something to do with parking - parking in MOA anyway. I've recently discovered the newest feature of the covered parking lots in MOA.

Looking for free slots is made a lot easier by the lights above the spaces. if the slot is free, the light si green but if it's occupied, the light turns red. Amazing, diba? Before, I used to spend a lot of time driving in circles in parking lots just to find a free spot. Now, one look and you'll easily know where you can park. Amaaaaaayzing. I hope other parking lots follow suit. hehe.

On time

reposted from Multiply

Time is a Nuisance man invented for himself.

(new)
Traffic in Manila last Wednesday was hell. I think we could attribute it to Pacquiao's homecoming. Or the Maynilad excavations that are still plaguing our streets. Or the lowered gas prices that convinced motorists it was cheap to drive again. Everywhere I went, every street I passed was full of cars. Sheesh. My class was at one, I left the house at around quarter to 12. See the time? I was still in the Taf-DLSU area by that time. Buti na lang maaga ako umalis, kundi, late nanaman ako. (3 out of 4 meetings na ak
ong late. hehe)

Just a few more days.

School's almost ending (well, for the Christmas break at least, then hell will again rule my world), this new blog will live off re-posts. I am sorry, my supply of creative juice has been sucked dry by the written reports which now have big red marks on them. Sheesh. If, and only IF, I find the time to repost previous blogs, I will. :)

On liking blogger.

I officially like Blogger now. :)
